In zehn Zeichnungen stellt uns die ägyptische Künstlerin Rania Atef die Mechanismen vor, wie die Fronarbeit als Hausfrau und Mutter fließend in die Praxis der unbezahlten künstlerischen Arbeit übergeht. Ein sprechendes Beispiel dafür ist etwa das Angebot einer Kunstinstitution, (nur) die Produktionskosten zu übernehmen. Dies bildet sich direkt auf dem Budget und den Einkaufslisten ab. Dennoch wird in den aufgezeichneten Gesprächen eigentlich nur gelacht und mit den Schultern gezuckt.

In ten drawings, Egyptian artist Rania Atef shows us the mechanisms of how the toil of being a housewife and mother seamlessly transitions into the practice of unpaid artistic work. A significant example of this is the offer by an art institution to cover (only) the production costs. This is directly reflected in budgets and shopping lists. Everywhere there is a limitation of resources. Nevertheless, in the recorded conversations there is actually only laughter and shrugging of shoulders.

Parastou Forouhar
Für den Kanton Graubünden hat die Künstlerin Parastou Forouhar ein beeindruckendes Kunstwerk geschaffen, dem grosse öffentliche Resonanz zuteil wird. Sie malte ein Ornament aus persischen Schriftzeichen auf einen 1000 Quadratmeter grossen Asphaltplatz. Dieser erweckt den Eindruck eines prächtigen Teppichs, auf dem die Menschen nun das kantonale Verwaltungszentrum in Chur, der Hauptstadt Graubündens, seit August 2020 betreten.
For the canton of Graubünden, artist Parastou Forouhar has created a stunning work of art with great public resonance. From July to August 2020, she painted a large ornament of Persian characters on a 1,000-square-meter asphalt plaza, thus creating the impression of a carpet on which people enter the new cantonal administrative center in Chur, which is the capital of Graubünden.
Şakir Gökçebağ
Der in Hamburg lebende Şakir Gökçebağ war im Spätsommer 2020 Stipendiat der Jakob und Emma Windler-Stiftung. Im Museum Kloster Sankt Georgen, einst eine Benediktinerabtei, installierte er zwei temporäre Installationen. Im Kreuzgang stellte er drei Reihen geöffneter Regenschirme auf. Weil er ihr Inneres zuvor mit weissem Garn bespannt hatte, scheinen sie nun das spätgotische Gewölbe wieder zu spiegeln. Im Amtmannssaal dagegen füllte er die Spalten der Dielen mit Linsen, legte die leuchtend roten Samen aber auch auf die blaugründ bemalte Täfelung. So steigerte der Künstler, subtil und mit verschmitztem Humor, den Charakter des altehrwürdigen Gebäudes.
In the late summer of 2020, Hamburg-based artist Şakir Gökçebağ was artist in residence of the Jakob and Emma Windler Foundation. He installed two temporary artworks in the Museum Kloster Sankt Georgen, a former Benedictine abbey. Inside the cloister, he set up three rows of opened umbrellas. Having covered their interiors with white yarn beforehand, they now seem to reflect the late Gothic vaulting. In the bailiff's hall, on the other hand, he filled the gaps between the planks with lentils and placed the bright red seeds also on the bottle-green painted paneling. In a subtle manner and with playful humor, the artist thus emphasizes the character of the time-honored building.

A wolf and a deer, a fox and a hare nestle against a sleeping woman. The reddish-brown blanket that covers her blends seamlessly into the fluffy fur of the animals. They sleep relaxed, as if it were completely unimaginable that when they wake up they would chase each other or become the prey.

Bashir Borlakov, now working in London, has succeeded in bringing to public attention the faces of people usually seen only by the poor. Because their professions are illegal, they live like ghosts invisible in the city.

Das Video "Reds, Yellows & Blues" zeigt verschiedene Abstufungen der drei Primärfarben. Jede der im Kunstwerk verwendeten Färbungen ist Länderflaggen der Welt entnommen. Die drei Farben wurden ihres Mottos wegen, das sie in den Flaggen repräsentieren, ausgewählt. Diese Mottos sind: Blut & Krieg (Rottöne), Wüste & die Sonne (Gelbtöne), Himmel & Meer (Blautöne).
The video work "Reds, Yellows & Blues" shows different tones of three primary colors. The tones of each primary color used in the work have been taken from the national flags of the world and selected according to the themes they represent in the national flags. These themes are: blood & war (reds), desert & the sun (yellows), sky & sea (blues).

For her video work, YM/Yamm (Open Sea), the artist filmed people at a bus stop in East Jerusalem. While waiting, we watch people observing other passersby, talking on their phones or exchanging a few words with others temporarily sharing the same bench.

In her finely executed animation film, The Capsule, the artist deploys a convoy of space capsules in front of demolished houses in Gaza. The capsule in the foreground is open. All of a sudden a bomb explodes.

For this project, the artist asked her family about her grandfather, Abu Dahoud, who at the time of the Nakba in 1948 was expelled from Palestine to Lebanon. While trying to return home a soldier’s bullet hit Abu's forehead.

Seit Jahrzehnten klingen dem Künstler Fragmente eines Liedes im Ohr nach, das seine Mutter, seit er sich erinnern kann, immer wieder vor sich hinsang. Die Strophe erzählt von einem Segelboot auf dem Mittelmeer.
Throughout his youth, the artist heard his mother sing a song, but only a fragment. The strophe tells about a sailing boat that when seen causes one to feel a longing for home.

For Treibsand initial the artist Parastou Forouhar created a new animation, the first one to be developed from her digital print series, Papillon Collection. In the Persian lyrics, a butterfly exists for a beautiful and fleeting moment, both enchanting and tragic.
